I want to tell you about a change that LinkedIn has made that affects all of us – and what to do about it.
LinkedIn has changed several privacy settings so that our names and photos can be used for third-party advertising unless we UN-check the boxes.
Here’s what to do: (To get the full article to Opt-Out of Social Advertising with screen shots that show you want to do, click here)
Manage Social Advertising
- Login to LinkedIn and go to Settings. At the very top of the screen in LinkedIn (above the Menu Bar), hover your mouse over your name, and then click on [Settings].
- Look to the left below the yellow Upgrade button, and click on [Account].
- Then under Privacy Controls, click on [Manage Social Advertising].
- [UN-check] the box that says that LinkedIn can use your name/photo in ads.
Turn On/Off Enhanced Advertising
- Login to LinkedIn and go to Settings. At the very top of the screen in LinkedIn (above the Menu Bar), hover your mouse over your name, and then click on [Settings].
- Look to the left below the yellow Upgrade button, and click on [Account].
- Then under Privacy Controls, click on [Turn on/off enhanced advertising].
- [UN-check] the box that says that LinkedIn may show you enhanced advertising.
